Dicembre 2023 Carissimi Soci, Il prolungamento dell’estate nonché la coincidenza temporale con importanti eventi dell’intera comunità cristiana, hanno un po’ rallentato l’organizzazione degli eventi sociali del 2023 che abbiamo però concluso con: • Giornata con gli anziani: sabato 11 novembre al Paesetto; • Formazione sociale: venerdì 24 novembre presso la parrocchia di santa Maria delle Grazie entrambi svolti con grande successo e convivialità. Per quel che riguarda il Paesetto, durante l’estate abbiamo continuato la cura della Paulownia, con attività di pulizia del terreno, concimazione del terreno e eliminazione delle femminelle (ormai residuali). Un altro progetto in corso di realizzazione è quello della cura, o abbattimento, dei pini malati del Paesetto, a partire da quelli della Via Crucis. Circa 180 pini sono stati infatti attaccati da un parassita che ne ha uccisi molti: l’Istituto ha incaricato una ditta specializzata che svolgerà tutti i lavori, particolarmente complessi e pericolosi. La nostra Associazione parteciperà alla fase sostituzione degli alberi che verranno abbattuti con una raccolta fondi ed una giornata di Festa dedicata alla piantumazione: “Adotta un albero”. Punto di partenza saranno i fondi già raccolti in occasione della giornata “La Voce del Creato”, il 22 aprile us.: vi terremo aggiornati. ___________________________________________ Cogliamo infine l’occasione per chiedere ai Soci di parlare della nostra associazione ad amici e parenti, e magari coinvolgerli nelle nostre attività. “Dare un po’…. Agosto 2023 Carissimi Soci, sperando abbiate trascorso buone ferie, ci fa piacere riassumere le attività svolte nel secondo trimestre ’23: • Il 28 aprile ed il 25 maggio si sono svolti i primi due (su tre) incontri di formazione sulla Laudato sii che ci condurranno ad una maggiore conoscenza sul messaggio di papa Francesco relativo alla “ecologia integrale”, l’approccio cristiano alla cura della casa comune; il terzo incontro si svolgerà ad ottobre. • Il 10 giugno abbiamo di nuovo condotto i nostri anziani a godere delle bellezze del Paesetto, grazie all’ospitalità delle sorelle di santa Maria del Silenzio. Abbiamo ripreso la conoscenza delle Piante della Bibbia, quale occasione di parlare di botanica, poesia, pittura e mitologia, con l’obiettivo di intrattenere e accompagnare i nostri anziani. Abbiamo concluso il nostro incontro con un pranzo comunitario e due chiacchiere nell’ospitale salone di san Gabriele. • Il Camminare insieme: il 18 maggio abbiamo visitato il Roseto Comunale e la basilica di santa Sabina, nello splendido contesto dell’Aventino. Dopo l’estate ripartiremo con un nuovo progetto, sempre pieno di bellezza e spiritualità. • Ripristino della Via Crucis al Paesetto: il Direttivo, in accordo con l’Istituto, sta studiando come gestire le attività. I fondi raccolti sono solo un inizio e vengono conservati dall’associazione in attesa di poter procedere. Aprile 2023 Carissimi Soci, Il 2023 è ripartito a pieno ritmo: • Il 23 febbraio si è svolta l’Assemblea ordinaria dei Soci che ha approvato il Bilancio consuntivo 2022 ed il preventivo 2023. Nel 2022, le attività sociali hanno consentito di coprire le spese ordinarie, nonché quelle necessarie per la coltivazione della Paulownia, lasciando un piccolo deficit. • L’11 marzo abbiamo di nuovo condotto i nostri anziani a godere delle bellezze del Paesetto. E’ stata l’occasione per avviare la conoscenza delle Piante della Bibbia che ci ha dato l’occasione di parlare di botanica, poesia, pittura e mitologia. Continueremo anche nelle prossime visite che ci porteranno a visitare le 4 comunità del Paesetto. • Il Camminare insieme: con le visite di San Lorenzo, San Giovanni e San Paolo abbiamo completato il percorso delle Sette Chiese, iniziato esattamente un anno fa. A maggio ci aspetta il Roseto Comunale ed una visita alle chiese dell’Aventino. Dopo l’estate ripartiremo con un nuovo progetto, sempre pieno di bellezza e spiritualità. • Ripristino della Via Crucis al Paesetto: in collaborazione con l’associazione L’altra parola (composta da genitori di ragazzi disabili) e sulla spinta della socia Annarita il 22 aprile è stata organizzata una bellissima giornata di raccolta fondi che verranno destinati all’abbattimento degli alberi morti e alla loro sostituzione. Gennaio 2023 Carissimi Soci, abbiamo appena inaugurato il nuovo anno sociale, partecipando ad una delle iniziative relative alla Settimana di preghiera per l’unità dei Cristiani, la Veglia ecumenica diocesana che si è svolta il 19 us presso la parrocchia di santa Maria delle Grazie: nulla ci ha emozionato di più di poter pregare insieme ai fratelli delle altre fedi cristiane il nostro unico e comune Padre. Siamo soddisfatti della importante ripresa delle attività sociali che abbiamo portato avanti insieme nel 2022: • Sono stati svolti cinque incontri dedicati ai Soci, sia per attività di formazione che di condivisione degli obiettivi societari; • Abbiamo dedicato due giornate agli anziani delle nostre parrocchie e delle nostre famiglie; • Il progetto Camminare insieme ci ha portato nelle prime 4 Chiese del pellegrinaggio fondato da san Filippo Neri nel ‘500; • Durante l’estate abbiamo accompagnato le piante di Paulownia a crescere oltre i 5 metri, mantenendo la necessaria qualità del legno; • A Natale, abbiamo raccolto fondi grazie all’impegno di alcune Socie e stretto contatti con l’Associazione Altra Parola, composta da genitori di ragazzi con handicap gravi. Settembre 2022 Carissimi Soci, l’estate volge al termine ed è ora di riprendere contatti ed attività. Come previsto, in questi mesi, il gruppo degli Amici della paulownia ha garantito il fondamentale impegno per la “pulizia delle femminelle” ed altri lavori di gestione, necessari per la crescita delle piante e la qualità del legno che verrà prodotto. La crescita delle piante è stata sorprendente: quasi tutte hanno già superato l’altezza di 4,5 metri, quella richiesta dagli acquirenti per la lunghezza delle tavole di legno che verranno ricavate dai tronchi (che dovranno raggiungere la sezione di 30 cm). Nessuno si aspettava una crescita così rapida! Questo fenomeno ha implicato un superlavoro per gli Amici della Paulownia che, con il forte caldo della scorsa estate, si sono impegnati nella pulizia delle femminelle, scegliendo le ore mattutine o del tardo pomeriggio: ogni settimana 1 o 2 volontarie/i si sono alternati in un lavoro via via più complicato dalla crescita delle piante stesse, armati di bastoni uncinati, scarponcini, acqua in abbondanza, … e buona volontà. Grazie ad Anastasia, Carla, Daniela, suor Elda, Francesca, Franco, Gennaro, Giovanna, Maddalena, suor Maria, Mario, la comunità di Mater Verbi, Maurizio, Nicoletta, ma anche a Domenico e Pierluigi che ci seguono da Sulmona! Il 24 settembre prossimo ci vedremo tutti al Paesetto per la Giornata del Creato e potremo ammirare questo bosco che in cinque mesi ha superato i 5 metri di altezza. Potremo pregare insieme, cantare, riflettere sulla bellezza del Creato: mettete in agenda questo impegno. Giugno 2022 Carissimi Soci, abbiamo concluso il ciclo di incontri sociali previsti prima dell’estate: il 21 maggio ci siamo incontrati per condividere progetti ed idee per il futuro dell’associazione (trovate una sintesi della giornata sul nostro sito, https://www.sicutnovellaeolivarum.org/in-pillole/la-vita-dell-associazione-2022) ed il 9 giugno abbiamo visitato la basilica di santa Croce in Gerusalemme, nell’ambito del progetto Camminare insieme, (le notizie sempre sul sito, https://www.sicutnovellaeolivarum.org/per-le-persone-1/camminare-insieme). Nel frattempo abbiamo avviato le attività degli “Amici della paulownia”, che stanno garantendo la vita e lo sviluppo delle piante, un’efficace collaborazione tra direttivo e soci, volontari e collaboratori del Paesetto, suore e laici: i lavori “grossi” sono stati svolti con le macchine e l’aiuto di collaboratori esterni, la pulitura settimanale dalle femminelle e dai polloni è stato fin qui svolto da soci e simpatizzanti. May 2022 Dear Members, The Paulownia restoration work has been completed: technical felling, weed clearing, tilling, and removal of excess shoots. Some members contributed, including volunteers from Sulmona, those from Cenacolo, and Giovanni, the farmer who works for Paesetto. Now it's our turn, the members, to carry out the ongoing cleaning of the Paulownia shoots: a job that isn't physically demanding, but which must be done consistently to ensure the final quality of the wood. On April 30th, we gathered at Paesetto for Spring Day with the Elderly: about sixty people, including the elderly, members, lay people, nuns, and novices, for a day filled with sunshine and joy. Father Timoteo, Mother Teresa's Missionary of Charity, led us in a reflection on Laudato Si', on the value and beauty of creation, on our duty to preserve it, and on the joy of enjoying it. And we enjoyed it: the blooming village welcomed us in its full beauty, which we all want to preserve and open to many other elderly, young, and vulnerable people, always with full respect for the place. On April 28th, we also launched the Walking Together project, which aims to offer an opportunity to be together, enjoy our wonderful city, its spirituality, but also its great beauty. The first cycle includes a visit to the 7 Basilicas, in the spirit of Saint Philip Neri. The next outing: June 19th at Santa Maria Maggiore. And now we are ready to discuss the program of activities with you, on May 21st: at Santa Maria del Silenzio... to discuss our future. March 2022 Dear Members, We have resumed our planning activities and meetings. On February 19th, we took up the suggestion of one of our members to organize an initial meeting on Pope Francis's Encyclical Letter "Ludato sii." The lecture was given by Lorenzo Lastilla, a young Laudato sii Animator working at the parish of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary (who provided us with his presentation). Piera Savino and Antonio Fiore, who work in the Laudato sii Circle in Trastevere, shared their experiences. We are pleased to inform you that, again this year, the Laudato si' Movement is offering an online training course for Laudato si' Animators, starting on April 20th (four one-hour lessons). Last Saturday, we met at Paesetto to assist and support the technical cutting of the Paulownia. Thanks to our consultants, Pierluigi and Domenico, and with the contribution of some young people from the Cooperative il Cenacolo (coordinated by Giovanni), the activities concluded by lunchtime. The next few months will be crucial for its growth, which we will need to monitor closely: we must ensure the trunks grow straight and free of lateral branches, systematically removing the "female branches" to achieve smooth, knot-free wood. We can do this together! Those who were unable to attend the work took the opportunity to meet in the village, which culminated in the Prayer for Peace held at the Fonte della Madonnina. January 2022 Dear Members, Having completed the first three years, unfortunately marked by the severe impact of COVID, we finally hope to resume the meetings and activities that are the goal of our association. The Assembly held on December 4, 2021, approved the 2019 and 2020 budgets and replaced the three outgoing directors: Maddalena Tantaro (who also served as Treasurer), Giampaolo Rosati, and Alessandro Sartori. The President was unanimously confirmed. The new directors are Gennaro De Matteis, Nicoletta Di Bello, who will serve as Treasurer, and Carla Dozzo, who will serve as Secretary. These new positions were approved at the Board of Directors meeting held on January 12, which also confirmed Giovanni Ziaco as Vice President. ___________________________________________________________ Gennaro M. De Matteis: “55 years old, four children, mechanical engineer, I have worked for 30 years in private industry, in the engineering and construction sectors, with international experience. I am a member of a blood donor association. I am also involved in the Civil Protection Department. I have been visiting Paesetto for over forty years. I hope to make a concrete and effective contribution to the definition and achievement of common goals.” Nicoletta Di Bello: “I am married to Maurizio and have two (now grown) children, Andrea and Carla. I am currently retired after working for 43 years in public administration. I am a member of Italian Catholic Action in Rome and am involved in catechism in my parish, Santa Maria delle Grazie al Trionfale. I hope to be useful to the Association by sharing my skills.” Carla Dozzo: “I am currently retired; I worked for 40 years in IT, training, and telecommunications companies, in a role of corporate organization management. I have no volunteer experience: it seems like the time to start." _________________________________________________________ A replacement among the nuns who participate in the board of directors has also been decided: Sister Derna Bianchetti has been replaced by Sister Marina Poglianich. ASSEMBLY CONVOCATION - November 2021 Dear Members, we have now reached the end of the first three years of life of our Association, we have skipped the scheduled assemblies, due to the pandemic, but now, in the hope of moving towards a more normal life, the need arises to meet us in the Assembly to discuss the following agenda: 1. Report on the activities carried out; 2. Approval of the 2019 and 2020 financial statements; 3. Election of the President and of the four lay Councilors; 4. Various and possible. The Assembly will take place on first call on 3 December 2021 at 06.00, and on second call on 4 December 2021 at 15, at the headquarters in Viale Vaticano 62 Rome. With regard to point 3, it should be noted that the nominations for President or Director must be received by 23 November 2021 to the secretariat: segreteria@sicutnovellaeolivarum.org, in order to allow the preparation of the list of candidates for voting members; only those members who are up to date with the payment of the annual fee will be able to apply and express their vote. October 2021 Dear members, the vacation time is over and the Board of Directors has resumed its activities. As indicated in the previous newsletter, there would be the possibility of renovating the shed called San Gabriele (about 500 square meters) for the purposes of the Association, creating a meeting point for families, which the neighborhood does not have. To achieve this goal we need everyone's help. For the moment it is a question of gathering all the ideas that may be useful. I invite everyone to write how and what they think is necessary or useful, so that they can then carry out a well-defined project. This contribution, as detailed as possible (indication of the recipients, operators, spaces, purpose and if possible also the expected costs etc ...) must be addressed, by October 31st to Nicoletta on her e-mail n.di-bello @ tiscali.it which will collect them to make a unique proposal on which we will all discuss together in the next Shareholders' Meeting of which we will notify you as soon as possible of the date and methods of execution. June 2021 Dear Members, In recent meetings, the Board of Directors has examined the possibility of renovating the San Gabriele warehouse (approximately 500 square meters) in the Paesetto della Madonna to achieve the Association's goals, seeking appropriate funding based on a well-defined social project. We have heard from local residents, parish priests, and a city councilor, who have all expressed the need for a meeting place for families, as there are no squares or other meeting places in the neighborhood. To make this project a reality, we need everyone's help. For now, we're gathering all the ideas that might be helpful. I invite everyone to write down how and what they think is necessary or useful, so that we can then develop a well-defined project. Please send this contribution, as detailed as possible (indicating the recipients, operators, spaces, purpose, and if possible, the estimated costs, etc.), to Nicoletta at n.di-bello@tiscali.it. She will collate it into a single proposal that we will discuss together on September 25th at Paesetto. May 2021 "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit" (1 Cor 12:4). The Holy Spirit reminds us that, first and foremost, we are beloved children of God; all equal in this, and all different. The Spirit comes to us, with all our differences and struggles, to tell us that we have one Lord, Jesus, one Father, and that for this reason we are brothers and sisters! Let us begin again from here, let us look at the Church as the Spirit does, not as the world does. The world sees us as right-wing and left-wing, with this ideology, with that; the Spirit sees us as belonging to the Father and to Jesus. The world sees conservatives and progressives; the Spirit sees children of God. The worldly gaze sees structures that need to be made more efficient; the spiritual gaze sees brothers and sisters begging for mercy. The Spirit loves us and knows each person's place in the whole: for Him, we are not confetti carried by the wind, but irreplaceable pieces of His mosaic. (Pope Francis) Dearest members and supporters, On April 24th, we gathered in Paesetto, and it was a joy for everyone to finally see the Paulonia Project begin in full view. It's difficult to express the enthusiasm for this first planting! Some had already been working since early in the morning, others arrived for the prayer to the Lord of Creation, which was offered at the spring, thanks to the beautiful sunny day, and then spread out across the field for the honor of planting at least one of the 600 saplings! There will be work for many volunteers... On May 22nd, with the Daughters of the Church, we remember the gift given in 1913 to Mother Maria Oliva Bonaldo. That day, during the feast of Corpus Christi, the young Maria Oliva received from God an extraordinary grace of light and strength, the charism that led her to found the Institute of the Daughters of the Church. This charisma is a source of inspiration for various other groups in the Church, including our Association, which aims to continue Maria Oliva's dream of establishing the Paesetto della Madonna in 1964. As stated in our Statute, we pursue this goal by drawing inspiration from the principles of communion, solidarity, and integral ecology in Pope Francis's "Laudato Si'," other indications of the Social Doctrine of the Church, and the charisma of the Daughters of the Church. Two online events are scheduled for May 22nd: 11:30 a.m. Regina Coeli or Angelus prayer; 9:00 p.m. prayer vigil awaiting the Spirit. We are still waiting to hear whether the projects presented to the Lazio Region (Salva api solidale presented on February 1st) and to the Council of Ministers (Al "Paesetto" delle meraviglie presented on April 26th) have been accepted. 5x1000!

 

April 2021 Jesus, our Easter is risen! By dying Jesus destroyed the poison of death and gave us the life that does not die. Christians we walk the earth, but our true life comes from above, as Jesus says to Nicodemus. Whoever opens his heart to faith in Jesus who died and rose for us, experiences a new life, a rebirth! A new gaze that sees the Kingdom of God within and around us. New hearing that distinguishes among many the one Word that saves. New smell that discerns the scent of good from the foul-smelling stench of evil. New taste that savors food that lasts for eternal life. New hands that heal, caress and work blessing without holding back or striking ... We can truly sing: "By your resurrection O Christ, the heavens rejoice, the earth rejoices, alleluia!" EARTH DAY! Dear friends, April 22 is the day dedicated to the earth, being a Thursday we decided to celebrate it all together on the following Saturday 24 April. Having arrived the paulownia seedlings, we can put them together at home, the appointment, for those who wish, is at 9.00 at the village, after a short prayer we will plant the seedlings in the ground that has been prepared (in the photo), at 12.00 we will close the day with the Regina Coeli prayer.

March 2021 Dear members and supporters, during this pandemic period, when it has become difficult to meet, we decided to create a communication tool to share information about the initiatives and activities we are working on. We are aware that the Association's website, www.sicutnovellaeolivarum.org/, is not always consulted, and that WhatsApp chat isn't always sufficient for communication. We would like this newsletter to become a tool for everyone's participation, letting us know about any topics of interest for the association's activities. We also wish to offer, from time to time, a small tool for personal reflection that can help us grow in faith. Today, we would like to recall the Pope's message for Lent 2021: where he invites us "to renew our faith, draw from the 'living water' of hope, and receive with an open heart the Love of God that transforms us into brothers and sisters in Christ. Our projects: PAULONIA PROJECT The paulownia project, after being halted last year due to COVID-19, has resumed its activity. Further research has been conducted to ensure the plants are properly positioned, and alternative irrigation solutions have been found, which should also have a different and more moderate environmental impact. Work on installing the irrigation pipes and the necessary water pump should begin in March. The seedlings for planting should arrive shortly after Easter. Anyone interested in helping with the field preparation or afterward can contact us. SAVE THE BEES SOLIDARITY PROJECT: Thanks to the collaboration of some members—Nicoletta, Ilaria, and Anastasia—we were able to submit a project to the Lazio Region to participate in a call for proposals for funding for bee care and honey production. We asked for permission to build a laboratory, including an educational facility, along with the necessary equipment for working with bees, and to train new young beekeepers with a view to employment. We are awaiting an official response, but that doesn't stop us from considering how we can utilize what we already have. We'd like everyone to feel involved.
