Today is the 52nd International Earth Day. We will meet on April 30th, at the small village, to enjoy the Creation in bloom and remember that the environment is a collective good, heritage of all humanity and everyone's responsibility.
- Use fluorescent light bulbs instead of incandescent ones - not only do they use 60% less energy, but they release far less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
- Turn off the lights when you're not there - it sounds trivial, but for many it's not at all.
- Do not leave TV and computer on standby : even those consume more electricity than you imagine.
- Put the lid on the pots when cooking : not only will you optimize the preparation time for lunch or dinner, but you will save a lot of energy.
- Prefer the shower over the tub : It doesn't look like it, but the shower uses a lot less water and takes a lot less time to heat it up (about a quarter of the tub, to be exact)
- Use less plastic : If you just can't avoid it, at least optimize. Use detergents on tap (yes, they do exist!) Or buy liquids in two-liter bottles instead of one liter.
- Use washable containers instead of disposable ones
